Crozes-Hermitage / Saint-Joseph

The passion of a self-taught winemaker

The story of the wine growing domain began in 2001 with 1.5 hectares of the «Crozes-Hermitage» appellation, located just South of the town Tain l’Hermitage. Since then, the domain has been growing each year and now reaches 15 hectares (of which 0,25 hectares of white Crozes-Hermitage) in the area of the towns of La Roche de Glun, Pont de l’Isère and Mercurol. Since the very beginning, Emmanuel takes great care in vinifying separately each ground parcel in order to emphasize all the subtleties and specificities of the terroir.

He pays a peculiar and tough attention to the harvest to reach the perfect balance. The soils are ploughed and yield is limited. Grapes are picked manually and selected on each ground parcel. The harvest is partially destalked and the duration of the maturation is about 15 to 20 days. The wine is brought to a finish in wood containers, mostly casks but also wooden vats or huge oak barrels called "demi muids”.

Emmanuel proposes three cuvées in Red Crozes-Hermitage :

  • «Mise en Bouche» : a flatteringround wine with hints of dark fruits, griotte cherries and with a floral note : violet)
  • «Au Fil du Temps» (a careful selection of ground parcels for special vintages). A more structured wine with hints of red fruits, spices and pepper that emphasize the minerality of the soil.

Since 2010, the domain owns a new appellation, "Saint Joseph”, overgrowing 1.7 hectares (of which 0,20 hectares of white Saint-Joseph).This terroir is located near the town of Tournon-sur-Rhône and is facing South East.
